According to a report by Daily Star UK, a US military helicopter carrying seven passengers has "gone down" in western Iraq near the Syria border.

The helicopter, reported to be an HH-60 Black Hawk, is believed to have crash landed in the Anbar region of Iraq, where pockets of ISIS-held territory still exist.

The circumstances of the crash are yet to be established by US officals.

All seven US service members on board have been killed, a US military official has confirmed.

There is no indication to suggest the helicopter, which was not on a military mission, came down under hostile fire and an investigation is under way.

A search and rescue team was sent to the crash site on Friday morning local time, US officials told CNN.

In a statement, the US-led coalition said: "We are currently gathering the facts and coordinating with the appropriate national authorities.

"We will issue a statement at the appropriate time, but have nothing further to offer at the moment."

The crash comes just days after six ISIS members were killed as the US-led Coalition launched an airstrike in west of Anbar.
